I'm Lawrence Poindexter, founder of Market Choice. I grew up in Chicago and landed in Springfield in 2011 — and this city has had my heart ever since.
My path here started with a nonprofit dedicated to supporting ex-offenders. I began working with them the day they walked out — managed a caseload of about 150 people — and helped them through everything from landing their first job to starting their first business. I didn't just teach tech skills; I taught life skills, because rebuilding a life takes more than code.
